Lords of Finance




The situation in the world more and more reminds me of the period before the Great Depression.

After the Irish crisis, which erupted with full force last week and which may lead to the collapse of the euro area has reached us about the Korean conflict.

In my head, I lit a lamp - or not as the assassination in Sarajevo? I decided to re-read the book, Ahamed - "Lords of Finance."

Liaquat Ahamed, was a World Bank economist. He was also managing an investment fund. Now it has become bestselerowym author and "Lords of Finance" was hailed as one of the best economic books of 2010.

Through the prism of the four biographicals most powerful central bankers, Ahamed describes the crisis of the 30s of last century, which is commonly known as the Great Depression.

The protagonists of this drama are: Benjamin Strong - Head of the Fed, Montagu Norman - President of the Bank of England, Emile Morceau - Managing the Banque de France, Hjalmer Schacht - Head of the Reichsbank of Germany.
